Texaco Beach is located in the northern part of Burlington, VT.
It’s a fabulous spot along the Island Line Trail, also known as the Colchester Causeway. And it’s just up from the North Waterfront Park and Dog Park.
Restrooms and parking (both seasonal) are available at nearby North Beach, which is located just to the north of Texaco Beach.

2. Mary Crest Beach

Mary Crest Beach is located on Pearl Bay on Grand Isle. It’s in western Vermont, close to the border with New York State.
Grand Isle, officially called South Hero Island, is the largest island in Lake Champlain.
Mary Crest Beach enjoys a serene, peaceful location on the banks of Lake Champlain. The beach itself is 27 miles north of Burlington, VT. And just 4 miles north of Grand Isle State Park.
As with Texaco Beach, you can bring your pup to Mary Crest Beach all year round. And the best thing is that your furball is free to roam around off leash!
Just be aware that there are no restrooms or other amenities here.

3. Kill Kare State Park

- Surrounded on three sides by the sparkling water of Lake Champlain

Kill Kare State Park is located in western Vermont, close to the border with New York State.
It’s situated on the southwestern tip of St. Albans Point, a three-mile peninsula that defines St. Albans Bay. And it’s a jumping off point for Burton Island State Park.
Kill Kare State Park is dog-friendly and permits pups during park opening hours.
In line with Vermont State Park Rules and Regulations, whilst in the park, you must keep your dog securely restrained on a leash not longer than 10 feet at all times.
And please remember to pick up after your pup, as well.

4. D.A.R. State Park

D.A.R. State Park is located on the shores of Lake Champlain, close to the small town of Addison.
This gorgeous state park is 36 miles from Burlington and 59 miles from Montpelier, the Vermont state capital.
It’s a quiet park, popular for its large, open campground, grassy picnic areas and stone pavilion. And it also has a small, rocky beach for your pup to enjoy.
D.A.R. State Park is dog-friendly and permits pups during park opening hours. It’s open from the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. And day use hours are from 10am to the official sunset time each day.
In line with Vermont State Park Rules and Regulations, whilst in the park, you must keep your dog securely restrained on a leash not longer than 10 feet at all times.

5. Lake Paran

Beautiful Lake Paran is in North Bennington, in the southwestern corner of Vermont.
It’s just a few miles from the state border with New York. And less than 20 miles from the Massachusetts state border.
You can bring your dog to Lake Paran for a walk or a swim in the quieter months of the year.
The only time that dogs are not allowed here is during the summer hours, which are between 11am and 6pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.
Your pup is sure to enjoy the lovely small beach around the shores of the lake. And there’s plenty of lawn for her to run around on as well.
Lake Paran is also a great spot to see some fantastic wildlife, including eagles, ospreys and turtles.

Dogs are not allowed in any of the day-use areas at the Lake Eden Recreation Area. These areas include the parking lot, the beach, the swimming area, the picnic area and the playground. The only exception is dogs that assist people with disabilities. However, there ARE designated areas where you can walk your pup. And a designated area where your furball can have a swim as well. No, unfortunately dogs are NOT allowed at Leddy Beach in Burlington. However, leashed dogs ARE permitted in neighboring Leddy Park.
