Dauphin Island Public Beach is just a 45-minute drive from Mobile, Alabama.

This Pet Friendly Alabama Beach Is Accessible By Both Road And Ferry

You can get to the beach by both road and ferry. The island is connected to the mainland by the Gordon Persons Bridge, more commonly known as simply Dauphin Island Bridge.

And as long as your pup is on a leash and is well-behaved, then she is allowed to travel with you on the ferry.

Beach amenities include picnic tables and public showers.

Please note that dogs are not allowed at West End Beach Park, which is located on the far west end of the island.

2. Dauphin Island East End Public Beach

  • Located next to Fort Gaines, on the far eastern end of Dauphin Island

Make the journey across to the island from mainland Alabama by road or by ferry. The choice is yours.

3. Bayside Beach at Fort Morgan State Historic Site

  • Located just past the Dauphin Island ferry and before the fort entrance
  • Leashed dogs are welcome here all year round
  • Parking is available right next to Fort Morgan Pier
  • Good chance of seeing dolphins!

Also note that there is often a lot of natural debris at the beach. However, this is mainly driftwood. The beach itself is usually clean and trash-free.

And keep your eyes peeled for dolphins. There’s often a good chance of spotting them from the beach!
